Mi Universo
October and November are months where it rains a lot here. Rain here is somewhat like snow in the Midwest, just a little bit can cause a lot of trouble. Well last Tuesday for one of my English classes it rained mucho! Most of the students stayed home as they walk to class. I myself was an hour late because of traffic. We ended up having a Bible Study and sign-a-long. We sang the following which is one of my favorite songs, “Mi Universo.”
Mi Universo
Que seas mi universo - my desire is that You are my universe
No quiero darte solo un rato de mi tiempo - I don’t want to give you just a little time of my time
No quiero separarte un día solamente - I don’t want to be seperated from you even one day
Que seas mi universo - my desire is that You are my universe
No quiero darte mis palabras como gotas - I don’t want to give just drops of words of praise
Quiero un diluvio de alabanzas en mi boca - but a flood of prasie from my mouth
Que seas mi universo
Que seas todo lo que siento y lo que pienso - I want you to be all I feel, all I think about
Que seas el primer aliento en la mañana - I want you to be the first thing in the morning
Y la luz en mi ventana - and the light in my window
Que seas mi universo
Que llenes cada uno de mis pensamientos - I want you to fill all of my thoughts
Que tu presencia y tu poder sean mi alimento - that you are in my presence and my ability
Oh Jesús es mi deseo… Que seas mi universo
No quiero darte solo parte de mis años - I don’t want to give only some years of my life
Te quiero dueño de mi tiempo y de mi espacio - I want you to be the owner of my time and space
Que seas mi universo
No quiero hacer mi voluntad, quiero agradarte - I don’t want to please my own will
Y cada sueño que hay en mi quiero entregarte - and that all my dreams are in you
(2x)
More Bibles

Last night I was able to give three more Bibles to my students in my other class in Balboa (near our house). We translated John 2 from Spanish to English and then corrected our work and read aloud the story in English with the Bilingual Bibles. The students were so excited! It’s somewhat like a [...]
A BIG Thanks!

Last night I had my class in Los Andes. It was a very special night as I gave out the Bilingual Bibles that my home congregation VBS raised pennies for! For a lot of the classes we study different passages and look over different verses in the Bible. Normally I print off the English version [...]
Confirmed!

This last Sunday was a very special day at for the Lutherna church here in Panama as my friend was confirned and became a member of the Lutheran church of Panama.
Rachel is in my English classes and is now teaching English herself twice a week to kids who come to the church. She has quickly [...]
la verdad absoluta

Yesterday marked the first day of English class in Los Andes since we took our break at the beginning of September.
I was very excited to return, yet I was hesitant in thinking how many would show up. Everyone was called about the class starting again but once you get out of a routine it can [...]
The Soul of the Missionary

Yesterday was the last Sunday that Pastor Martinho will be in Sora serving as the Pastor. Pastor Martinho is from Brazil and was called by the national church of Panama to serve Emanuel Lutheran Church in Sora four years ago. He recently received a call from Brazil that he accepted.
The remaining four congregations here canceled [...]
Alvis

Today was our friend Alvis’s confirmation. Alvis has been attending the church here in Balboa for about three years and today he became an official member of the Lutheran Church of Panama! Please pray for Alvis as he continues his walk with the Lord.
Call of a Deaconess
I realized I hadn’t posted this to our own blog. This is a video I produced in Spanish for the deaconess retreat in Argentina. It was shown to over 500 people on the big screen in Buenas Aires. It’s all in spanish but she is more or less describing what a deaconess does and it [...]
Argentina: 2 weeks of Autumn

It’s been a while since I’ve been able to post anything to the blog, returning from 2 weeks in Argentina, we’ve kept ourselves pretty busy with guests and work. I have a regional newsletter due at the end of this month, and am working on several videos I shot in Argentina. The trip went very [...]
Arms of Love

(I apologize that what was meant to be published a week ago has been neglected during a very busy week, my sister came to visit us, along with a professor teaching a course in Panama, a young man from Honduras, and the LCMS Board for Mission Services, here is the second half of my writing [...]
In the Field

Video and still cameras slung over my shoulder I followed LCMS World Mission Missionaries Danelle Putnam and Rebecca Krey, along with several children into the tobacco fields of the Dominican Republic village of Palmar Arriba. The village life there is centered around two things, working in the fields and baseball. In fact, [...]
First Newsletter
Here it is, the first ever regional newsletter for LCMS World Mission in Latin America and the Caribbean! It took me a very long time to get it off the ground, but I finally got it up and running! Many of you probably received an email from me about the newsletter, but I haven’t received [...]
The Little Ones

I could have fit the entire contents of their homes in my backpack. In fact, most of the homes in the village were dwellings cruder than what I’m accustomed to on a “rustic” camping trip. Here was poverty on a scale I had not yet seen in Panama…
Christmas Greetings

Here is a video I made of the Christmas Concert in Loma Cova. It’s in HD so be patient while it loads, but trust me it’s worth the wait!
Evangelism Central

The Albrook Bus Terminal, how shall I describe thee? A chaotic hub of transit for the teeming masses of Panama’s travelers? A discordant symphony of voices and sounds? Or a place to connect and meet people before heading off into the unknown?
Renewed, Refreshed, Reunited

by: James Neuendorf
Career and Long Term Volunteer Missionaries from all over Latin America and the Caribbean gathered last month for the 2008 LCMS World Mission Regional Missionary Retreat.
Peru!

Our friend Anthony (left) just left this morning for Peru! He will be a volunteer coordinator for short term mission teams. ”The fields are ripe for harvest but the workers are few,” couldn’t be more appropriate as the town he will be working in has an immense need and yearning for the gospel. He will [...]
Inundated

Excessive amounts of rainfall throughout the country of Panama have caused swelling rivers to flood, displacing thousands of people and killing at least eight.
Deseo Que…

Seven women, many talents, diverse backgrounds, and one desire: to serve the Lord. The first ever deaconess retreat in Panama, at the Avalon Grand Resort in Las Cumbres, was a clean refreshing break for a group of women who were ready to roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty.
