A BIG Thanks!
Last night I had my class in Los Andes. It was a very special night as I gave out the Bilingual Bibles that my home congregation VBS raised pennies for! For a lot of the classes we study different passages and look over different verses in the Bible. Normally I print off the English version and they look at the Spanish Bibles at the church for reference. Well now, they have their OWN Bible that has both translations.
Yesterday I gave each student three or four verse from the Parable of the Sower in Mark 4 in Spanish. They were to try and translate the best they could in English and then after we were to go over the actual English translation. Well to go over the English I passed out the Bibles. The students were very surprised and very grateful! They were so happy to have their own copy.
The students will be able to use this now for further studying and practice, but the important part is they have a Bible in their hands. Even if they ignore the English side they have the Truth in their hands waiting to enter their hearts and souls and that’s what makes this all so very worth it.
Lately, a lot of my students have gone through some very hard things in their life. One student has a friend with AIDS who is very sick, another has a father who has dengue right now, another recently had a cousin who died due to a house fire I believe, and yet another had a son who was stabbed to death as someone was trying to rob him. That’s intense stuff that we can only life up to God, not to mention everyday dealings of daily life. I pray the class becomes a network of believers who share in pain and suffering and the joys of this life together and the only way to do that is to be in the Word and sharing Christ’s love with one another,
So thank you, from all of us!
The following is a video of some of the students reading from their Bibles.

How exciting to see these young people reading the Word in your ESL class from bibles that just a few weeks ago were prayed over by the young people and congregation of NewLife. It’s uplifting to hear the stories of how God is working in the lives of our brothers abd sisters in Panama. Please let them know that we continue to pray for them.
